First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at KIDS FIRST Swim Schools.
Swim Instructor
It involved a few brief interviews. Honestly, it was pretty easy to get through them, it just depended on who you talked to. The questions weren't too tough, mostly just basic stuff about working at a pool or with kids.
- What's your experience like working with kids?
- Have you worked at a pool before, maybe as a lifeguard in the summer?
Swim Teacher
We talked about my past jobs, if I can swim, and if I have experience with kids. There's no background or criminal check. It's a one-on-one with the hiring manager. They want you to shadow for two days before their training class starts.
- Were you ever on a swim team?
Instructor
The interview process was quick and easy. It was very laid back, and the managers spent most of their time getting to know you as an individual to see how you would fit into the environment.
- Could you tell us why you are interested in this position?
- Do you have prior experience working with children?
- What is your background or experience related to water activities?
Swim Instructor
I called the location and they scheduled me for an interview right away. After I handed in my application and resume, I had to come in two more times to watch other instructors. After observing, I had to go to a training. Once the training was done, I was able to start instructing.
- What are the differences between teaching adults and children?
- Do you have prior experience with swimming?
