Quality Control
It was a quick and easy interview process. They hire a lot of fresh college students. I interviewed at the site with the manager, followed by a small tour of the facility and then a color test. Having a really low score fails you automatically.
- Tell me about a time you faced adversity and how you overcame it.
- There was a color test.

The interview started with a phone call. I was then offered a choice between a Zoom or in-person interview, and I chose the in-person option. During the in-person interview, I had to take a "Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue" test for color matching. They mentioned that a score over 32 meant not getting hired, and advised focusing on the blue/green sections as they are common pitfalls. The overall interview vibe was pretty relaxed, and the questions weren't technical at all. Despite their emphasis on communication, their own communication was quite poor; I wasn't informed about the next steps and had to follow up myself via email. After two weeks and a second email, I was finally told they had moved on with another candidate, even though they still had a listing for two more hires on Indeed. This lack of communication was unprofessional and inconsiderate. The job description mentioned an associate's degree in a technical field as desirable but not mandatory, which seemed odd given the role's apparent lack of chemistry focus. They seemed to prioritize personality ('bubbly/extroverted') and fitting in over qualifications, which might have been why my introverted personality worked against me. There was also a personality/behavioral test where you ranked scenarios. The salary wasn't great for someone with a technical degree, and their mention of a 'fast' turnaround rate was a red flag, attributed to mistakes or illness.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your research?
- What would you do if a client was unhappy with your color matching results?
- Describe a situation where you dealt with a difficult coworker or classmate and how you resolved it.
Finance
Talked to the supervisor of the area, then after that with senior management. They were not on the same page about the total scope of the position and what role the candidate will have within the department. Is it a senior role or supervisor role. No one seemed to know while the interview process is being conducted.
- What is the current process for measuring product costs?
Scientist
The interview process involved a virtual meeting first, and if they liked me, I would proceed to an in-person interview. This is how they decided if I was a good fit for the team.
- Can you discuss your past experiences?
- What would you say are your greatest strengths?
- What are your personal weaknesses?
