I had a call initially with Andrew who was very knowledgeable, and really did a great job talking about the organization and the role. I met with the leadership group who walked through Sales Methodology, understanding my experience, and ability to hit my targets. The team has a great energy and focused on growth and opportunity in the market. Really solid experience.

I didn't get past the initial TA screening. When asked about salary expectations, I said my base is $130K. The recruiter said their budget is in the low $100K range. When I asked how they came up with that, she said, "That's what I was told." The job description said 3+ years of leadership experience, which I have. But when I asked about negotiation room, I was told they were actually looking for someone newer to leadership, with about one year of experience. If that's the case, the JD should say that. It's not realistic to expect an experienced manager to commute to an office near Yorkdale for a salary in the low $100Ks. Being upfront about expectations and pay would be good.

The interview process went well and felt very professional. It started with a recruiter screen where we chatted about my background, my experience with SaaS accounts, upselling, key metrics, and my career goals. Then, I had a Director Round which focused on performance and mindset. They asked me what makes me a top performer, about my account management process, and how I quickly get up to speed. We also discussed KPIs, challenges in the province, and onboarding. The final round was with a VP, and it was a more strategic conversation about growing the territory and customer engagement. After the interviews, the recruiter got back to me quickly with an offer. All in all, communication was clear and everyone was respectful.

Case Presentation

The whole thing took about a month and had a few parts: a screening, then two rounds of interviews, and finally a case study where I had to design for their product. They wanted a presentation and actual deliverables. After that last part, I heard nothing for weeks until I followed up. Then I got rejected with no real feedback, even though they implied feedback would be part of the case study. The whole experience felt kinda unprofessional and old-school. The case study felt more like free work than a fair test, and it seemed like they didn't realize how much time and effort they were asking for without paying. The salary they talked about was also way lower than normal. They want to seem modern, but their hiring process is immature and doesn't really work well for evaluating people.
