First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kettering University.
Administrative Specialist
It started with a quick 20-minute phone chat, then moved on to four separate hour-long Google Meet interviews. I talked with multiple directors from departments that this role collaborates with. Even though it felt like a lot, the people I spoke with were really welcoming and excited.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a technical issue and describe your solution?
Assistant Professor
It was a 20-minute Zoom interview, covering teaching, research, and professional service. Four faculty members from the search committee conducted the interview. There was also time at the end for me to ask them questions.
- What potential challenges do you foresee if you were to join Kettering?
Teaching Assistant
I had a one-on-one meeting with the Head of the IME Department in his office. We went over my undergrad transcript, looking at each class that lined up with the TA positions available for the classes next term.
- What makes you think you would be a good fit for the IME 301 Lab assistant role?
Facilities Manager
You apply online, and the posting is up for about two weeks. After it closes, the hiring manager will pick out candidates they think might be a good fit. It could take two to three weeks to hear back after applying. Then, there are three panel interviews.
