First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kern Health Systems.
Information Security Analyst
What was supposed to be a 3-person panel interview turned into a 2-person one, which neither I nor the recruiter knew beforehand. This changed the single-round process into multiple rounds, contrary to what was initially communicated. The interview was quite unusual. One of the analysts was significantly late and kept disconnecting. Neither analyst allowed me any time for introductions or to explain my suitability for the position. A large portion of the interview focused on basic questions, more suitable for a Sec+ certification exam that I had already passed and included on my resume. Overall, the team appeared unprofessional and disorganized.
- Can you explain what a DDoS attack is and describe your defense strategies against it?
Director of Project Management
The recruiting process was really thorough and interactive with the internal recruiter, who kept me updated the whole time. They were transparent and honest throughout. When interview scheduling had to change and I had to adjust my personal schedule, the recruiter and Kern Health Systems showed their ethics and values. The recruiter gave me objective and fair advice on how to improve my application. They really went above and beyond throughout the whole process. When I got the offer, the level of care was unprecedented – they checked in to make sure I was taken care of, if I missed any steps, and asked for feedback. It was by far the most professional, thorough, caring (with one to one attention) and ethical recruiting process I've experienced in my 20+ years of career.
- What makes me stand out from other applicants?
- Can you explain how you would integrate lean Agile principles with PMI methodologies?
- What strategies would you employ to expand the project management team?
Provider Claims Liaison
The interview was supposed to be on Zoom but then I got rescheduled to be in person. When I got to the building, two call center reps had me sign in. Elias met me shortly after and gave me a job description that was different from the one I was told about originally. Then I was taken upstairs to a room where I met two interviewers on Zoom and one in person. I didn't get to introduce myself or talk about my skills. The talk went straight into questions about the job and scenarios, and I wasn't ready for them. I made it clear that I had been on the other side of claims processing for 5 years and never actually worked in claims processing in insurance. They asked questions I didn't know the answer to, which made me feel bad. The interview finished fast, and they walked me back downstairs. It could have gone better, but the building is really nice and everyone I met was smiling.

Registered Nurse Case Manager
The interview process was smooth, timely, and succinct. All parties involved were prepared for the interview, and was completed in 20 minutes. I felt that Mike and Diane were straightforward in their approach; they knew me and my past experience and were well versed in my previous contributions to the company.
- Would this role bring you happiness?
