For an electrical role at Kenya Power, they're gonna test your technical skills, how you solve problems, and what you know about the industry. Expect questions about power distribution, how transformers work, circuit analysis, and safety rules. The interviewers, who might be senior engineers and HR, will check your theoretical knowledge and practical experience. You might also get asked about diagnosing electrical faults, keeping the grid stable, and if you know Kenya's electrical standards. They'll also ask behavioral questions about working in teams, adapting to changes, and how you handle stress. There could be some practical tests or simulations too. Being a good communicator, knowing about energy rules, and understanding how Kenya Power works will help you get the job.
- What contributions do you intend to bring to the company?
Electrical Engineer
Had 2 interviews with the hiring team and the technical people. First was behavioral, then some technical questions. The technical questions were general basics for electrical stuff. The technical team was nice and helpful.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What motivates you to apply for this position?
Finance
It was a really boring interview process. I was called to come to Nairobi, only to find out that other candidates had already been selected. I felt devastated knowing I had spent money and time. Being a government agency, I didn't really expect much from it though.
- Where in Kenya are you from?
Electrical Technician
The interview starts with some light chat to make you feel comfortable. Then, we'll ask some general questions about your background and what you're looking for career-wise. After that, we'll get into questions specifically about this job, covering your past successes, how you solve problems, and how you'd handle certain scenarios. Finally, you'll get a chance to ask us anything you're curious about regarding the company or the job, and we'll wrap things up by going over the next steps. The main goals are to see if you have the right skills, if you'd fit in with our culture, to give you info about the job and company, and to help us make a hiring choice.
- What made you decide to pursue electrical engineering as your field of study?
