So I had an interview and after that they sent me a project to do. They didn't even look at my portfolio first. I asked them some questions that were important for me to know before starting the project. They took weeks to reply and when they did, they didn't answer all my questions but still wanted the project. I told them it wasn't a good fit. Then they asked me to fill out some paperwork. I said no, but they kept emailing me saying it was their legal process and I had to fill it out since I interviewed. Obviously I didn't fill out any paperwork and I'm happy I didn't do the project, which I'm sure they asked a lot of people. What a waste of time.

I had a phone screen and then an in-person meeting with the hiring manager. Although I didn't get the job, the HR rep was good about keeping me informed during the whole process. They talked about the job duties and my resume. The HR manager also gave me a timeline for the hiring process, which was helpful. Everyone was considerate.

Applied online and got a call for an interview in about a week. My first interview was with two people who would be my direct supervisors. It was super relaxed, everyone wore jeans and seemed really friendly and not hierarchical. They mostly asked about my experience with their common processes and if I could learn their way of doing things fast. They were cheerful, answered my questions about the company and culture well. I got a call back that same evening for a second interview a few days later with two department directors. They seemed to be more focused on my personality and if I'd fit in with the team, asking things like strengths and weaknesses, but it was mostly a 'get to know you' chat. I didn't hear back for two weeks, so I emailed one of the directors to follow up. The HR person who initially contacted me called back to say I was still the top choice but they were waiting to interview a few more people. It took another two weeks for the offer call, which I happily accepted. Apparently, the delay was because I was interviewed early and they didn't want to offer too soon, plus they got swamped with a big project that caused overtime and delays in their hiring schedule.

I got connected to Kellwood through a friend. The phone screen was good, the conversation went smoothly, and my in-person interview also went well. I met everyone on the team I'd be working with and got a feel for the office environment. The corporate office is a bit dated, but the people are really friendly. It's a casual atmosphere, and people wear jeans daily. Kellwood really has an open door policy; everyone seemed approachable and easy to talk to. I was happy with the job and accepted the offer. I'd recommend others interview with Kellwood too.
