So, I had this interview, right? First, I spoke with the recruiter, she was super nice and listened well. Then, I had a chat with the Learning Technology Manager. It went great, I felt like I'd really like working with her. She even said after the last interview with two of her team members, we'd go over the next steps. But that last interview with the two team members... man, that changed things. They tried to be cool and were, but the vibe was just off, kinda forced. Some questions felt random, not even about the job. The next day, they told me I didn't get it, they picked someone else. Weirdly, the job was posted again a couple days later. I figured maybe the team members were intimidated by my experience, like, more than them? One of them even said they wanted someone humble. But humility isn't about hiding what you know just 'cause someone else might feel weird about it. My advice if you're going for this: ask if the two team members can record the interview. That way the manager can see it for herself. As long as they keep interviewing people with more experience than them, they might just find excuses to pass them over, no matter how prepped or positive someone is. If you're already experienced and ready, think hard if this is really the team for you, even if the manager seems cool.
- Would you be bothered if a subject matter expert asked to see unfinished work?
Billing Specialist
It was a good interview, very interactive. They explained the responsibilities and expectations. We talked about my experience and skills. They asked about flexibility with hours, the team structure, my strengths and areas for improvement, and my long-term and short-term goals. Then they explained the next steps in the interview process.
- Can you describe a time you handled a specific situation?
IT Support
The interview process involved a standard initial phone screen, then a chat with the hiring manager, and wrapping up with an interview with the head of IT. The interviews were pretty straightforward, mostly asking behavioral questions to gauge your fit with the company.
- Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Human Resources Manager
This whole process was a massive waste of time. I had 6 interviews over the course of a month, from April to May. They had unprofessional last-minute cancellations and were late for interviews. Expect to wait about 8-10 minutes. The role description was unclear, and they gave vague answers or didn't know what was going on in the field. A month-long interview process is crazy nowadays, especially with everything being virtual. I don't recommend dealing with this company because of their unprofessionalism and how they don't respect people's time. Three out of the six people I spoke with mentioned that turnover is very high. I'm lucky I had other offers and could see how other companies handle virtual interviews. This company was the last to tell me their decision, even though I started the process weeks before them! The recruiter was fantastic though, great communication and very pleasant. No issues with the TA team.
