First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Keller ISD.
Teacher
The interviewers were super friendly and asked typical questions from a teacher standpoint. The culture is very enthusiastic about building-thinking classrooms and the 5E model. Confidence is key so speak highly of yourself! They will help you as an educator once you join the team.
- What are your thoughts on building-thinking classrooms, and do you have any prior experience with them?
Communications Intern
The interview process was super professional but still fresh and fun. The Communications Department (which was three people at the time) sat me down and asked questions based almost entirely on my resume and my time at KISD. They were friendly and eager to meet with students.
- Can you share an experience where you collaborated within a team? What was your specific contribution and what insights did you gain?
- Describe a situation where you were part of a team. What was your role, and what did you take away from the experience?
Instructional Assistant
I've had a few interviews with this district before, and they usually involve a panel and are quite tough, even for entry-level paraprofessional jobs. I'm not sure if it's the competition or how selective the administrations are, but I still haven't figured out the secret to getting a foot in the door, even though I prepare with typical interview questions and have a decent background for this kind of role. I don't know exactly what they're looking for, but you should be ready to be scrutinized closely and really demonstrate what makes you stand out. It's kind of surprising how hard it actually is to land a job that pays only about $20,000 a year.
- Can you describe typical education field scenarios?
- How would you manage a disruptive student?
- How do you approach working collaboratively with colleagues?
Paraprofessional
It was a long online application, and they needed background check and thumb printing. Then the principal called me for an interview. I interviewed only with the principal. It was a good experience and the principal was super friendly. They asked some tough and tricky questions. About a week after the interview, HR called to offer me the job.
- What would your previous employer say about you?
