First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at KC Pet Project.
Canine Care Specialist
If you're thinking about a job with us, get ready for a pretty detailed interview process. We really like folks who are super into taking care of animals, show a lot of kindness, and work well with others. Be prepared to chat about your animal experience, how you handle teamwork, and what makes you want to be part of our goal to make life better for pets who need it.
- How do you feel about working in a fast-paced setting?
Adoption Counselor
I applied at the Zona location and went through two interviews. The first one was with the Zona manager and the Main shelter adoptions manager. Then, I had a second interview with a different manager at the Main shelter.
- Are you okay with cleaning up messes that animals make?
Canine Specialist
The phone interview was quick and easy. The in-person, hands-on interview was rough. It just wasn't the right fit for me because I'm too squeamish to clean many diarrhea-filled puppy cages. But if you're not, it might not be so bad. It was on me, I just didn't realize how much it would affect me beforehand.
- What's your motivation for wanting to work at KC Pet Project?
Coordinator
They made me feel comfortable and welcomed. It was a lot of questions, but it felt like a conversation instead of an interview. Be prepared to go into detail about yourself and your experiences.
- Why are you interested in working here?
- What is your understanding of this organization?
