It was a long and extensive process. First, I was contacted by a member of their talent/recruiting team to take preliminary cognitive and personality tests. Then a phone screen with the recruiter, followed up with another phone interview with the hiring manager. Cognitive test was taken again to verify preliminary results. Finally, a 3-hr onsite interview with members of the product and dev teams. Not super difficult as long as you’re just yourself.

The recruiter reached out, and I mentioned my experience wasn't quite what they were looking for. Despite that, they still thought I was a good fit and asked me to do a cognitive and personality assessment. After that, I had a phone call with the recruiting manager. Then came the in-person interview where I was hit with questions about the exact experience I'd told the recruiter I lacked. It's a bit of a bummer not to hear back, especially since I didn't think I'd get to the next stage given the mismatch, but a simple 'thanks for your time' would've been nice. You'd think a company focused on 'employee engagement' would at least do that.

I applied online and got a call from a recruiter who seemed to really get my skills and how they fit the job. They set up a call to go over my background and the role, then scheduled a phone interview with the hiring manager. After that, I was set for an in-person meeting with the Marketing Manager, CEO, and CRO. When I got there, the Marketing Manager told me the CEO was dealing with a computer issue and family stuff, and the CRO was out of town. So, I only met with the Marketing Manager, not the three people I was supposed to see. Later, my meeting with the CEO was rescheduled as a video chat, but just two hours before, the CEO emailed asking if I could come in person instead. I happened to see the email and had to rush downtown on a rainy day for the in-person interview.

I got an email from the recruiter asking about my salary expectations. After I replied, we set up a phone interview. The recruiter was really nice and gave me good feedback. Then, I had a second phone interview with two hiring managers. This call was not great; one of the managers was cold and seemed unprepared. He struggled with my questions and made it sound like the role was about cold calling instead of account executive duties. Even though I liked the company's mission and was hopeful, I lost interest after the call. I don't want to work for new and inexperienced sales managers.
