First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kay Jewelers.
Store Manager
The first interview seemed to go really well, and they gave me a lot of details about benefits, pay, rewards, commission, and bonuses. The DM mentioned a MIW position, thinking I'd be perfect for it with my 20 years of experience as an SM elsewhere. However, after making me wait almost 3 months, sending emails every couple of weeks with positive remarks about their interest, I finally got an offer on 10/01/18 for $10.75/hr as a service clerk. I felt so insulted and embarrassed by the low offer after they led me on for so long, disrespecting my experience and hard work, all because I lacked commission sales experience.
- Can you show us proof of your prior salary, without using a pay stub?
- Can you provide documentation of the sales volume from the stores you previously managed?
Assistant Store Manager
You'll typically have at least 2 interviews: first with the Assistant Manager, then with the Store Manager. They'll ask about your past work experience, how you'd deal with specific on-the-job scenarios, your aspirations for the future, your sales skills, and so on.
- Be ready for a role-playing exercise.
Store Manager
You apply online, and if they think you're a good fit, you'll have an initial interview with the store manager. After that, there are two assessments to complete. Then, the store manager might have a follow-up interview, and after that, you could be scheduled to meet with the district manager for a final interview. If all goes well, you'll get a call to fill out new hire paperwork, or you might decide it's not the right fit.
- Tell me about your motivations.
