The interview started with a one on one meeting with a sales lead. They asked basic questions about me and my work history. The sales lead was great at making me feel comfortable and explaining the role. Next, I shadowed a sales employee, who was very informative and welcoming. During the shadowing, a third person interrupted and asked me to tour the distribution center, as they were sent by management because of my background as a manufacturing supervisor. I went on the tour and was asked if I'd be interested in a packing position. I declined, and was then told someone else was interviewing for the sales role, so my interview was concluded.

So, the interview process involved meeting with four people: the hiring manager, someone from HR, and two team members. This meeting happened in a small room, and they asked standard questions about my experience, about me as a person, and my teamwork skills. It felt pretty intimidating to have all four of them staring at me in such a small space while I answered. Honestly, I think it would have been better to just meet with the manager and HR. There was also a writing sample required. After that initial interview, I had to meet with the CEO. It felt like he was just checking if I looked and sounded the part, which was a bit of a strange meeting. After that, there was a background check.

I had a really good interview experience. Lyndsay Gower interviewed me for an intern role in the e-Commerce department. She was very interested in my past experience, my skills for the job, and my overall goals. She explained my job responsibilities and the expected time commitment. The expectations were made very clear to me. The environment was professional but also comfortable. I received a job offer the very next day, which I accepted. I'm very happy with how it all went.

I had an impromptu meeting where I was asked some really personal questions and it made me feel uncomfortable. The interviewer commented on my appearance, suggesting it could be better if I had something fixed, and then said I was a beautiful young woman with nice hair. This was inappropriate and unacceptable coming from a male interviewer. I was only asked about one part of my current job. The company needs to be more careful about who they have interviewing people and what questions they ask, especially considering what's legal. I've never had an experience like this before and it left me feeling horrible about myself.
