Got a message on Linkedin from the Karyopharm Rx recruiter, then had a chat with HR. After about two weeks, I had a bunch of Zoom interviews. First with the hiring manager, then with four other directors, one by one, over two weeks. Then another follow-up chat with the hiring manager. After that, a week of silence. When I followed up, they told me they hired someone else.

After applying online, I got an email a few days later to schedule a phone screen. I had the screen the next day with an HR recruiter. They started by telling me about the work environment, mentioning it's fast-paced and not for everyone, which seemed like a response to company reviews. Then came some odd questions, as if they were really concerned I'd leave soon after being hired. It's possible they were wary of sponsoring someone from outside the US who might be a flight risk. They asked hypothetical questions about what I'd do if another company offered me a job after I'd accepted their offer. They also asked if anything was stopping me from starting right away. By the end, the recruiter wasn't even sure about sponsorship for non-US citizens. They later confirmed they don't offer it. It wasn't a big deal given how weird the call was.

This interview process was fast, organized, and generally a great experience. It started with a phone call from HR, then a virtual meeting with the hiring manager, and concluded with a full virtual panel interview with the rest of the team. Everyone I talked to was really nice and made it easy to chat. It didn't feel like a typical grilling; they seemed genuinely interested in learning about me and my background. The whole thing wrapped up in under 3 weeks, with great communication throughout. They were upfront about the company's fast-paced nature, demanding workload, and some strong personalities, which I appreciated as it let candidates decide if it was the right fit.

Behavioral Other

I was scheduled to meet with someone in recruiting because I was referred. She was very arrogant and annoyed that she was talking to me. Had a chip on her shoulder. Didn't ask me any questions other than to go through my resume when my resume was in front of her. Seems that they hire based on favoritism since people are in roles that are not advertised. A red flag if they get audited which they should.
