Business Process Improvement Consultant
I really enjoyed my conversation with Derek, as he seemed genuinely invested in my career development rather than just placing me in any available role. I've given significant thought to his advice and would be keen to maintain a connection with the Kalles group for future opportunities. They strike me as a great firm to collaborate with. While I ultimately accepted a position with a different company this time, Derek was very supportive and even congratulated me. I truly believe his sincerity. He offered valuable guidance on my career path, emphasizing the importance of only taking on roles that genuinely excite me through growth and stretch opportunities, and never letting a firm pressure me into something that doesn't align.
- Where do you envision yourself professionally in one year?
- What are your career aspirations for the next three years?
- Could you describe your primary professional interests?
Account Manager
It started with an informal email chat, then a phone call, and finally an in-person interview. They screened me with behavioral scenarios and asked about technical/delivery stuff, plus questions about my career goals. They used a lot of casual chat, I think to make me feel comfy presenting myself. Lots of open-ended questions that made me think. Since it's a consulting firm, the company's people, culture, and processes are as important as the client you'll work with, so it's like two interview rounds: one for the firm and one for the client.
- What is your motivation for joining our company?
- Describe a situation where you managed a workplace disagreement due to personality clashes.
- Could you explain the reasoning behind your approach in that situation?
Risk Consultant
The interview process was okay for the first couple of rounds. The role was mainly about helping a client with their third-party risk program. I had a good chat with the hiring manager and a decent technical interview. It was a bit strange though, as the lead interviewer in the technical round seemed to talk more about themselves. I was really impressed by the company's values and the experience of their leaders, which made me expect a lot of openness and honesty from them. I got a bit over-enthusiastic during the technical interview and maybe came on too strong, I realized later. The company then decided to give the job to someone already there the day after my technical interview, without telling me. Instead, they set up another interview for me with the client account manager. This guy was 10 minutes late to our call and then waited another 15-20 minutes into it to tell me this important news. He said they were moving existing staff who met '2/3rds of the requirements' into the position, which suggests to me they don't see the role as super critical, even though it's apparently one of their longest-standing clients. Or it could mean I'm an even worse fit than the person they moved. Oh, and this client is a really famous global charity. He then told me he wanted to talk because he genuinely wanted to 'help me out' due to my 'versatility and qualifications.' I take my career seriously and was upfront about wanting to start my own business in a different area. The interviewer then casually offered to 'broker a meeting' with a friend of his in that industry. I ended the call feeling like a charity case, kind of pathetic. The lack of openness, the condescending tone of the last interviewer, and the apparent disregard for finding the best person for a high-value client makes this company a definite no-go for me.
- What would be your approach to conducting a third party risk assessment?
Talent Manager
The whole interview process was really great. It's obvious that Kalles Group cares about their candidates. From the job description to how they reached out, they've created a welcoming and genuine atmosphere to help calm the nerves that I'm sure candidates (like me) might feel. The interview process was pretty standard, involving meeting the team members I'd be working with. In each of those interviews, the people showed interest in learning about me and my background, while also providing good information about the role and the company.
