After an initial application document screening, there was a Zoom meeting that lasted about 2-30 minutes. This meeting was about my previous research and my future research plan. Since I applied for the MS track, they were particularly interested in my personal plans after completing my MS.

So you apply, then you do a technical interview, and then you do a face-to-face interview. It's super competitive, so you really need to show you know your stuff, can solve problems, are adaptable, and can communicate well to stand out.

The interview process varies by department, but for the school of Metaverse, you'll need to prepare a presentation. This presentation should cover who you are and why you're applying. All professors from the department will be there. You should thoroughly explain why "Metaverse" is important to you and what you hope to gain from the program to convince them. Make sure to also bring your research question.

It usually starts with reviewing resumes and applications to see if you fit the bill. Then, you might get some pre-interview tasks like technical tests, writing assignments, or presentations to show your skills. For research roles, expect technical interviews where you'll chat about your research background, technical know-how, how you solve problems, and what you can bring to the team. If you pass those, you might face panel interviews with a bunch of people, like professors and department heads, to get different views on you and see if you're a good fit. They might also do behavioral interviews to check your people skills, how you communicate, work in teams, and lead. Sometimes, especially for higher-up roles, there's a final chat with top brass, like the dean or hiring committee chair, about strategy and your long-term plans. They'll also likely check your references to confirm your experience and suitability. If all goes well, you might get an offer with all the details about salary, benefits, and start date.
