I applied online and the recruiter reached out quickly. I was given a 30-minute online coding exercise. I passed most test cases, but one was tricky because the instructions weren't super clear on how to handle it. They liked my solution though. Then, it took them about 2-3 weeks to get back to me, even after I emailed them. Finally, I got to interview with an engineer on the team via phone. I felt like I aced the interview with the SDET, answering everything in detail and they seemed to really like my responses and background. But, I didn't get moved forward because they said I lacked mobile SDET experience, which wasn't clear from the job description. They said this after I had already interviewed and they knew I didn't have mobile experience. I thought it was weird since mobile testing wasn't mentioned and I wasn't asked any mobile-specific questions. I had to email again for next steps and was then told about the mobile experience gap. It felt unprofessional, especially since they should have told me upfront if that was a requirement.

Technical Coding Behavioral

It was pretty straightforward. They seemed more interested in getting to know you personally than testing your technical skills, though those are still important (there was a coding challenge). One interview was over the phone, and two were in person. All the interviews felt pretty informal and weren't especially difficult. The behavioral interview was the toughest, but that was just because some of the questions were a bit unusual, like 'what is your biggest regret in a major life decision and why?'

Applied online and got contacted by the recruiter for an initial chat about the role and my experience. The recruiter said she'd let me know about the next steps. After two weeks of me following up, I still hadn't heard back. Eventually, I got an email about a phone interview, which she had to reschedule a few times because the team was super busy. The phone interview itself was pretty straightforward, with basic Java, SQL, and testing questions. I was then told I'd have to go onsite for the final round. I gave them my availability for that week, but they asked me to reschedule again because the team was going on vacation (long weekend). Then, the day before my onsite interview, I got an email saying they had interviewed someone else and decided to go with that candidate.

  • Do you have experience with SQL?
  • What are your thoughts on the testing process?
