First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JVS SoCal.
Peer Support Specialist
I applied online and then got screened by the onboarding supervisor over the phone. If they liked me, I had a video interview with the program manager and others. After that, they checked my references and sent an offer letter. I could negotiate, then I had to do a background check, and then onboarding started.
- What are your strengths that would help you excel in this role?
Program Assistant
So I interviewed with JVS Socal, and it was a good experience, really gave me a chance to show what I know. The process was put together well, and the questions made me think. The person interviewing me was nice and professional, made it easy to talk about my skills. I liked the company after this.
- How do I handle a lot of work?
Recruiter
It was a 3 step process. Started with a phone call, then a zoom interview with 2 people, and finally a presentation on zoom. The interview was easy, but they didn't give me enough time to prepare for the presentation because it was close to Christmas. They didn't bother sending a declination email, and I didn't get an update when I emailed them.
- Tell me about basic recruitment questions.
- How do you feel about speaking in front of large groups?
Program Coordinator
First, you'll meet one-on-one with the Director of Education and Training. Then, the Program Manager might join to ensure we're a good fit for each other. You might also have to give a presentation on a specific topic using PowerPoint to show off your public speaking skills. We really care about personality for good team dynamics. A Bachelor's degree is required, the field doesn't matter much but we'll look at it. A Master's degree isn't preferred for this coordinator role. It's important you show you can work on your own and are self-motivated. We'll also discuss your experience with the underserved populations, as they are who the program serves.
- What are your methods for staying organized?
