HR Specialist
I interviewed with the hiring manager and then another manager on the HR team. I thought it went really well and they seemed to like me. I followed up twice but never heard back, not even an email saying I didn't get the job. It was kind of unprofessional not to reply, especially since the hiring managers said such nice things about the company and culture.
- What's your reason for leaving your current employment?
Senior Software Engineer
The interview involved a 1hr session with the engineering manager, followed by a take-home project. After that, there were two 1hr technical interviews with engineers, and finally a 1hr behavioral interview with management. The total time spent on the take-home and interviews was about 9hrs. During one of the interviews, I was asked to design a system for a non-trivial application, but only had 15mins left. It felt impossible to properly assess my thought process or have a meaningful technical discussion in such a short time; I just had enough time to throw out buzzwords with brief justifications.
- Could you debug and talk about this code?
- What would be your approach to designing X?
- Standard data structures and algorithms questions.
Security Engineer
A recruiter reached out to me, and then I had an initial interview with the hiring manager. We connected well, and I was invited to the next stage. A few days later, I received a take-home project to finish over the weekend. It took about a week for them to review my project. The final step was a comprehensive interview session with different teams and hiring managers. It was mostly conversational, focusing on my past projects and the technologies I've used and how I used them. Surprisingly, there were very few technical questions. It took another week after that for HR to call with an offer. They expected an immediate decision, but I wanted to see the formal offer and review the compensation. The offered salary was considerably lower than the minimum I had discussed with the recruiter and later confirmed with the hiring manager. They wouldn't negotiate at all and sent a somewhat rude email stating they wouldn't budge and I should look elsewhere. Overall, the interview itself was straightforward, but the process was slow and lacked clear communication between stages.
- What experience do you have with IaC tools?
- Have you previously worked with data streaming tools?
- Can you describe some of your past projects?
Sales Development Representative
The hiring and interview process was really good, and although it was a 4 stage process, I really enjoyed my conversations with the EMEA Team. It's definitely one of the best processes I've been part of where you get to talk with a wide range of individuals, from a General Manager to Sales Engineers & Regional Sales Director. It's a great way for you to learn more about the individuals and vice-versa.
