I had a phone call with a recruiter, then I went onsite to the office. While onsite, I met with the director of product (who was new to the role) and his manager, as well as a peer product manager and HR.

I had a phone interview where they asked basic questions about my school schedule, my knowledge of programming languages, and about my desire to work and my work ethic, etc. After that, I was invited for an on-site interview with a panel of about 6 people. There were no coding questions, it was more to judge my character and see if I would fit into the company culture and be a good coworker.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I got put forward by a recruitment agency for this role, which was a new position providing tech support for Junipers European support centre. The office itself is upstairs on the first floor of a building, which is a bit inconvenient, but thankfully the product is mostly small. It's an open plan office with a window into the technical room, which I thought was odd, maybe a lack of trust. I arrived early and was taken to a meeting room to wait while my interviewer was busy. The interview wasn't technical at all, it felt very sales-oriented, and while pleasant, they were looking for someone who could talk a lot about not much, which isn't really an engineer's thing. My interviewer seemed to be from a sales background and not used to interviewing engineers. I got the impression that the office staff might make the tech staff do other jobs like cleaning or making tea, and then interfere with technical matters. I decided not to go back into that kind of environment. Juniper USA seems great, and I'd apply there if I were in the US, but I'm not sold on the UK operation. I turned down a second interview, which would have been a conference call with the US.

Technical Coding Technical

It was an aptitude and programming test first, then there were 2 rounds of technical interviews. The first round included questions about myself, my favorite subject, and some programming and bit programming questions. They also asked basic computer network questions. The second technical round focused on computer networks and some C++.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Nothing difficult actually but was tricky, I guess I wasn't prepared.
