First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Juniper Networks.
QA Manager
I applied through Juniper's career site. The first step was a telephonic discussion with the hiring manager. After about a week of silence and no email responses, I got a call to schedule a face-to-face interview. The first face-to-face interview involved a Staff Engineer, the QA Manager, Product Marketing, and a Senior Director. It wasn't heavily focused on the domain but more on managerial aspects. Some interviewers were argumentative. It felt like they were looking for someone who believes QA is more critical than development, not an equal partner.
- Is QA or development more crucial?
Software QA Engineer
The interview process started with a telephonic screening that lasted 45 minutes. After that, I had a face-to-face interview at the office, which included three technical rounds. Then, there was a Hiring Manager round, which was the most interesting part, where they assessed my qualifications and how well I'd fit the role. Finally, there was a telephonic HR round.

QA Engineer
So, after a quick chat on the phone, they invited me over to their office. I got to meet the whole crew, and honestly, they were all super cool and down-to-earth. I felt like I nailed most of the questions and was pretty sure I'd get the job. Sadly, it didn't work out. When I asked why, they mentioned they thought I leaned more towards development than testing, which is kind of true. But hey, overall it was a good experience.
- Can you discuss network layer and application layer protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, the 3-way handshake, SSL, and HTTP?
- Describe the process that occurs when a URL is entered into a web browser.
