Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Juniper Networks.
Product Manager
I went through multiple phone interviews, and then a couple of on-site interviews. The work perfectly aligned with my recent experience. The final interview was with a VP who recently moved to this new role. I had never met a more unprofessional VP. He boasted about how he moved positions every 2-3 years and always rose, bringing his known people to fill roles under him. He commented that one criterion for hiring me was not experience alignment but whether I would be a good bet, if I had reached my peak, or would only fall down from here, hinting I might be getting aged. He also said engineers who moved to Product Management plateaued and never made it big. I was sure he had a big role in my rejection. I heard from alumni about the bullying nature of this VP. I sadly think of the plight of the company if such a VP is leading an important organization.
- Tell me about your past job experience.
Product Manager
The interview process was quite long but not difficult. It primarily focused on my past work history, with minimal technical questioning. The interviewers were generally pleasant, though the whole thing took a while. I had interviews with approximately six people, each lasting about 45 minutes. The offer came through quickly, but there wasn't much room for negotiation on salary, title, or RSUs, even though the offer itself was quite competitive.
- Can you discuss your prior work experience as detailed in your resume?
Product Manager
I learned about this opening through a former colleague because I was unhappy with my previous job. I was scheduled to speak with both core team members and then the Sr Director and VP of the division. All discussions were professional and what you'd expect for an experienced individual. The questions weren't for entry-level candidates. The recruiter was excellent and kept me updated throughout. Overall, a very positive interview experience.
- What makes you want to leave your current company?
