First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JUMP Investors.
Intern
The interview was one-on-one and conversational. The interviewer asked thoughtful questions about my past experience working on related topics, and why I was seeking Randy's mentorship. It felt more like a deep discussion than a traditional Q&A. They gave space to reflect on both personal motivations and broader issues in sustainability.
- Could you start by introducing yourself briefly?
Venture Capital Analyst
It was more behavioral. Most questions were about their company Sandee which is a Yelp for Beaches. Asked about what you think is lacking in the website. How can you increase views and how to monetize the company.
- Why are you interested in working in venture capital?
- What is your understanding of CEO Randall Kaplan?
- What do you believe is missing from the Sandee website?
Venture Capital Intern
The hiring process has two to three rounds. There are no technical interview questions, only behavioral ones. Just make sure you're prepared and have read the job description. The people interviewing me were friendly and communicative. The middle part of the interview process includes an activity to assess your creativity.
- What are your expectations for this internship?
Research Analyst
It started with sending in an application and cover letter. Then, I had a phone call with an analyst. About a week after that, I spoke with the CEO. The process wasn't super technical or difficult, more on the relaxed side. Since not many VCs hire undergrads, I was really braced for tough technical questions.
- Can you describe the most difficult project you've undertaken?
- Which startup do you believe has significant growth potential?
- Tell me about a startup product you really like using and explain why.
