First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JTI - Japan Tobacco International.
Sales Supervisor
Super ethical, both HR and the Manager were extremely polite and discreet with questions about personal life, and they made everything about the position very clear.
- Would you leave the company if you were offered a job at a company that paid more?
Sales Representative
I applied at JTI earlier this year and three weeks later, I got the chance to interview. First was a phone interview with a recruiter that lasted over 30 mins. She was nice and professional, and made me feel comfortable. Next was the Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment, which was easy and just showed who I am. The third round was a face-to-face interview with a regional manager and two district managers. It lasted about an hour. They asked straightforward questions, and I felt I answered them well. I researched the company and job beforehand and had prepared some strong answers. The regional manager even said he liked me. However, the next day I got an email saying they chose other candidates. I'm not sure what I did wrong since I had high hopes. The whole process took over 6 weeks, which was long. I was disappointed but I figure others might have had more to offer. Hope this helps!
- Could you tell us about yourself?
- What are your desired salary expectations?
- Describe a workplace challenge you faced and how you resolved it.
Sales
You start by applying online and uploading your resume. If you pass that, there's a telephone interview with HR. They'll ask you some questions about yourself and check your English skills (they won't warn you when they're going to call). Afterwards, you'll get numerical and verbal reasoning tests via email. If you pass those, you'll have a one-on-one interview with the same HR person where you'll need to describe situations where you faced difficulties. Following that, there's an Excel test. If you succeed in that, you'll interview with the line manager. If they like you, you'll receive an offer.
- Can you describe a time you did something your friends thought was boring?
- Tell me about a time you were part of a team and what your role was.
- What are your salary expectations?
