First had a meeting with the senior team lead. Then there was a super long coding test, like 3 hours, and they don't expect you to finish it. After that, met with the team to go over my coding test and they asked some more technical questions.

I was contacted by a recruiter who told me about a job at JSI, which sounded really cool. The first interview was quick, mostly just to see the office and meet the manager. It was mainly about my previous jobs. He said it was a sales pitch for both of us, and he was trying to sell me on JSI. He answered most of my initial questions. I was asked one technical question. Then I had a take-home exam that took 3 hours to finish, covering algorithms, data modeling, technical writing, and testing. I submitted it, and the next day I got scheduled for a second interview. This second interview was much tougher, mostly going over my take-home exam answers. Even though I didn't finish the exam and not all my answers were right, I got to explain my thought process and managed to finish one question on the whiteboard. I got an offer the very next day. The most surprising part was that even though they tested my skills, they didn't assign grades. They seemed more interested in how I work, how I solve problems, and how I collaborate to find better solutions. The fact that the testing felt like real teamwork rather than just scoring was a big reason I was sold on JSI.

The interview process at JSI was quite lengthy, which makes sense given their very low 3% voluntary employee turnover rate. They conduct multiple interviews with various team members to ensure a good mutual fit. While most developers hired recently completed a take-home assignment, I did not. The office environment is pleasant, with some developers having private offices and others sharing, typically two per office. There were no cubicles, and most shared offices had windows. Each developer is equipped with two 24-inch monitors, and the company is committed to providing any necessary equipment for efficiency. The interview itself was challenging due to the high caliber of the smart developers on staff. Notably, developers are involved in the interview process. A prerequisite for the job is obtaining security clearance, which requires being a Canadian resident for the past 10 years, having a clean criminal record, and no history of drug use.
