Technical Product Manager
It was a nice 3-stage process. First, I spoke with the Recruitment & Talent Manager who told me about the job and the company and checked if I was a good fit generally. Then, I had a second chat with the VP and a team member where we talked more about the role and my past experience, and they asked more questions about the skills needed. The last stage was supposed to be an interview with the CTO and VP where I'd present an exercise I prepared. But I got another offer before that and had to back out so I didn't waste their time. I did share my research and slides though, in case they were helpful.

Project Manager
I got reached out to by an HR person from Angel.co about an interview for a Project Manager role with their Boston team. The first chat went pretty well and they mentioned that the job wouldn't be super technical but I'd need a decent grasp of technical stuff. Then, I had my onsite interview at the BookingBug office, but it was weird because nobody seemed to expect me. The interview was surprisingly technical, focusing more on technical skills than project management stuff. They said they'd call me by the end of the week, but it wasn't until the middle of the next week, after I followed up, that they told me I wasn't moving forward. No explanation, no timeline, nothing.
- Can you tell me about the number of APIs you've worked with previously?
- Which relational database do you find yourself most proficient in?
Customer Success Manager
I applied online and the recruiter took a week to get back to me for the initial phone screen. She accidentally sent the wrong job description and then said the screen would be with the hiring manager, not changing the invite. The hiring manager said he wanted to skip the recruiter and set up an in-person meeting. I spoke with him on Thursday, and the recruiter then emailed asking if I could come in Monday or Tuesday to meet a senior person. I agreed to Monday, but the recruiter went silent until Sunday night, confirming the Monday meeting. On Monday, I met with the senior person for 1 hour and 40 minutes instead of the planned 1-2 hours with two people. I felt the interview was probably not going to lead to a job offer due to the recruiting process issues and lack of salary/benefits info. I sent thank you notes, but received no response. After a week, I followed up with the recruiter, still no response. Two weeks after the interview, I received a generic rejection email. The recruiter's lack of professionalism and urgency caused me to lose interest in the company.

Technical Support Specialist
So I applied and got a super fast response from the recruiter, then they were really responsive with follow-ups. I had my first chat with a really nice recruiter super quick, and then they set up a second interview with the hiring manager. But then, poof, they just ghosted me with zero explanation. Like, seriously? Why act interested in hiring me and then just bail on an interview without any heads-up or follow-through? This company seems to lack empathy. Plus, I had to pay for travel for a last-minute cancellation. And they're still hiring for the job, it's still up and accepting applications? There should be a law against this behavior, it's totally out of line and just shady. I guess everything happens for a reason, and if their hiring process is this messed up, I bet the company culture is too. I'm sure this place will get a bunch of unhappy employees on Glassdoor because if this is how they recruit, they clearly don't care how their decisions impact people.
