First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JRM Construction Management.
Intern
It was a simple and relaxed interview. This was the initial stage, and the interviewer was very friendly. We discussed my background and my motivation for this role.
- Could you please tell me more about yourself?
Assistant Superintendent
The interview process involved two phone calls, followed by an in-person meeting with the company's VP. They were upfront about what they were looking for and direct. There were no tricky questions or tests, just a chat about my background, what I was looking to do, and the role itself.
- Can you discuss your previous experience?
- What are your career aspirations?
- What is your understanding of this role?
Information Technology
I had an initial call with HR, and then directly met with the CEO. The 1 on 1 interview was with Joe Romano, and it was very thorough regarding the company culture. Joe was personable and described the company and its goals well, as did the HR recruiter who spent a lot of time on the process. Sadly, the process ended without any feedback, just a generic email saying I wasn't moving forward, even though my conversation with the CEO suggested I'd be invited back to meet more staff. It was confusing, though consistent with what I've heard about their process from others. They seem to want to expand beyond their current market but haven't yet put the necessary corporate support in place. From the outside, they look like a solid CM firm and could become a major player. I would have liked to help them reach their goals. Overall, nice people.
- How do you approach technology support?
- What unique contributions can you make to this position?
Estimator
After applying, I got a call for a phone screening a few days later. This was followed by three interview rounds over the next four weeks with different people in the department, each lasting about 10-15 minutes. They really emphasized their company culture and ESO plan. All interviewers told me I was very qualified and would be a good fit. The entire process took nearly two months before I got an automated email saying they went with another candidate. It seems like a decent company, but they take a long time to decide.
- What are your interests outside of work?
