The interview was pretty simple. You just need to be ready to talk about yourself and what makes you a good worker. If you like reading and know a lot about books, that's a bonus.

I applied through Indeed and was quickly messaged for a phone interview. After that went well, we scheduled an in-person interview. On the day of the interview, I asked about parking and immediately received a call saying the position was filled and the interview was canceled. This was surprising given the short time between interviews. I initially wondered if asking about parking caused the cancellation. It now seems I'm being blacklisted from the company, as all subsequent applications have been rejected immediately. I wish I knew why I'm not considered for future roles, as I suspect my negative review about the experience might be the reason. Be aware that hiring managers might see this and prevent you from getting an interview.

I interviewed with the store's general manager and assistant general manager. They asked me some "what would you do" questions. They didn't really tell me much about the job responsibilities or the social dynamics of the team. It was a bit uncomfortable because it was on the sales floor, not in an office. They even made a few jokes at my expense.

It was a very informal and strange interview. The Store Manager asked me to walk behind him around the store and observe the children's section from a balcony, like surveying a 'book kingdom.' For the first few minutes, I was talking to the back of his head, which threw me off. It was super informal and lasted maybe 10-12 minutes. I got an offer, but I got a full-time job somewhere else soon after.
