The interview was initially scheduled to be onsite at their satellite corporate office but was later moved to their headquarters campus in Taunton without explanation. The onsite interview took place in a conference room with the hiring manager and three remote IT team members. The interview concluded around lunchtime, after which the hiring manager departed, and I returned to my car for lunch. The round trip, covering a significant distance, was frustrating for what essentially became a virtual meeting. The IT team members appeared to have extensive experience, with an average tenure of 20-25 years. My career history, marked by several roles that ended in downsizing, outsourcing, or layoffs, seemed to be perceived negatively. The company appeared to value stability over the diverse industry experience and out-of-the-box thinking that I offer.

I talked to a recruiter who went over the basics with me and then passed me on to a manager. He asked me more in depth questions and I now have an in person interview. I turned down getting an offer because I haven’t gotten one yet, but I wanted to check this first. The interview process has been good so far.

The least a company can do is follow-up with you after an interview, especially when they say they will. I took time out of my day to meet with them in-person and learn about the role. When I heard nothing after a week, I politely followed up but never got a response. Very unprofessional.

I applied online and then got an email from someone at the company to set up a phone interview. I had a pretty chill phone chat with that person, and they said they'd let me know if they wanted to move forward. They did get back to me and wanted me to come in for an in-person interview. It started with one manager and then another manager joined, so it was 1:2. It was super relaxed. I didn't hear back for a week or two because I had other interviews, but eventually, they offered me the job.
