I had a phone chat with the Head of P&C, who was looking for someone to cover a contract role. Next up was a meeting with the CFO. I tried asking the Head of P&C what to expect via email but got no reply. Then, I got an invite that was actually meant for someone else. After that, I had a quick chat with a CFO who didn't seem very interested and mentioned that the culture aspect of the job wasn't a big deal. I never heard back after that. The whole thing was a complete mess.

The whole interview thing went pretty well. Started with a recruiter phone chat. Then I got this take-home thing where I had to build a React app based on their specs. After that, I met with a team lead to go over the React project and answer some more tech questions. The last step was meeting a cofounder who mostly asked about my experience and if I'd fit the culture. They were good about getting back to me and scheduling was easy. But, I didn't get to meet my potential manager, and couldn't really tell what the team vibe was like, which is a big deal for me, so that was a bit of a bummer.

Behavioral Case Presentation

The interview started with a phone interview, then moved to zoom interviews. After that, I had to complete a case study. This case study took me 12 hours to complete and was about one of their competitors. They asked me if I thought the case study was a good representation of the job, and I said no because product managers do a lot more than what the case study covered. They didn't like my suggestions for the feature. It's funny because one of their competitors already has the feature I suggested. It feels like a lot of hoops to jump through for an interview. The time I spent on their case study could have earned me a few hundred dollars doing some side gigs.

So after I applied, the interview process went like this: First, a phone interview with a recruiter. Then, I had a 1:1 with the recruiter and the Director of Sales. After that, it was a phone role play with the Director of Sales. Finally, I interviewed with one of the Founders. The process was pretty great and gave me a lot of info. I got offered a job, but ended up taking another offer that was more competitive. Jolt really seemed like a cool place to work though!
