First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Joie.
Supervisor
The interview process was smooth and consisted of just a few stages. I applied online, had a phone call afterward, exchanged some emails, and then finished with an in-person interview.
- Can you detail your previous work experience?
Account Executive
I submitted my resume and heard back a few weeks later from the HR rep in California. They offered me a position in a different division, which I accepted. A week later, I went to the interview, only to discover the person I was supposed to meet was out that day. The person who interviewed me was from Joie. Throughout the interview, she kept saying 'full disclosure' and then listing negative things about the company, the job, and how things used to be run before her time. It was quite strange. She barely asked me any personal questions, which made me think she didn't see me as a good fit. However, the interview lasted over half an hour, and she spoke a lot, mainly about her background and how the company is evolving. A few days before, I visited a Joie store and spoke with a sales associate who, upon learning I was interviewing for a corporate position, exclaimed 'God help you.' She described the company as dysfunctional and mentioned several unhappy employees in the NY office. After the initial interview, I followed up with HR but never received a response. The overall vibe of the office was not great.
- Can you tell me about your resume and why you applied for this role?
- What motivated you to apply for this specific position?
Sales Associate
I applied online and was contacted back in three days for an in-person interview at the company site. The interviewer was friendly, and the conversation flowed well. She asked me to go over my resume and discuss my skills and capabilities. Following that, she shared details about the company culture, which was insightful. Overall, it was a positive interview experience.
- Can you tell me about your skills, strengths, and ability to perform?
- How would you approach and overcome challenges encountered in the workplace?
- Besides just being present at the store, what proactive steps would you take to enhance your performance?
Sales Supervisor
All of my interviews were over the phone since I was moving. The interview process was pretty standard. I had 3 separate interviews: one with the store manager, one with the DM, and one with HR. The HR interview was more of a formality and didn't really focus on the actual job.
- What's your management style?
- How have you handled customer issues previously?
- How have you handled employee conflict?
