Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Johnson Controls.
Technical Sales
Had a great first interview with the recruiter, and then got scheduled for a behavioral interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager didn't make the first scheduled call, so I had to pick a different time. The behavioral interview itself was pretty good, focusing on my past experiences and general strengths. Unfortunately, after the interview and following up, I never heard back and felt ghosted. The staff seemed really unprofessional.

Technical Sales
This was the second round interview. The manager was nice. I didn't feel a strong connection with the team, so I don't think it would have been a good long-term fit, even though they seemed cool.

Sales Representative
The initial contact was with AI, which was very easy. Then I had an interview with two people, one of whom was a peer. I usually like interviewing with peers, but not in the first round. The hiring manager was really unprofessional, swearing a lot and bragging about himself and his qualifications. He kept talking about how he wrote the job description and asked if I liked it. Whenever I asked direct questions about his leadership style or the role, he'd pass them off to the 'peer' interviewer. He asked vague questions, and when I answered, he'd just repeat the question, like he wanted me to change my answer. I've interviewed and hired many people, and I really think the manager for this position needs some interview coaching.
