I passed the first round of HR interview, she was friendly. The second interview with the manager made me feel bad. He started by introducing their company and industry and asked me if I had heard of a specific proper noun. I said no I don't could you please explain to me. His reaction had a feeling of OMG you do not know this. In the formal interview session later, he even turned his head to look at another laptop while I was talking, and he didn't look back at me until I was almost done. He was very subjective in judging and feeling that I was not qualified from the beginning and behaved disrespectfully later on. I wouldn't go to such a team even if I was accepted. Besides, in my opinion, his qualifications and abilities are even not as good as mine.😁

Someone from the company reached out to me on LinkedIn. I had a good conversation with the recruiter. The interview with the person leading the sales team felt strange. He couldn't provide basic answers about the company's strategy or future, even after they recently got new funding. He said it was too early to know. He also mentioned multiple times that he tries to dissuade candidates from taking the job during the first round, highlighting the lack of marketing or SDR support for the sales team. It seems like it worked because I'm not interested anymore.

It was pretty straightforward, I first chatted with the co-founder, who was super friendly, which gave me a good vibe about the company. Then, I was given an assignment to build an API with no deadline. I really put a lot of effort into it, even building a mini-web framework since external ones weren't allowed. The assignment mentioned bonus points for discussing the solution. After submitting, I had an interview with two engineers. They barely touched on my solution and mostly asked about other things where people have differing opinions. I also got asked a puzzle question which I didn't answer correctly, but honestly, puzzles aren't a great way to evaluate candidates. You win some, you lose some. It's just frustrating because if they had said not to 'overengineer' it, I wouldn't have spent so much time on the assignment, especially since the instructions actually encouraged 'overengineering'. They should really rethink their assessment process. If they want to hire based solely on technical skills, they should stick to that and not have candidates invest so much time only to be judged on a couple of questions from the technical interview. Despite that, everyone seemed nice and it looks like a great place to work.

The interview process had four rounds in total, starting with a recruiter, then a manager, followed by two team members. The whole thing took about a week. Everyone was really respectful and nice, and it wasn't too difficult; it was a pretty easygoing experience.
