Technical Behavioral

The interview process was pretty straightforward and fair. I went through 3 rounds and chatted with a bunch of people from analysts up to MDs, and they all seemed genuinely interested in my well-being and if I'd be happy at the firm. They asked a mix of technical and behavioral questions, but nothing too out of the ordinary for banking interviews at similar firms. From what I gathered from other analysts, they seem to recruit mainly from semi-target and target schools.

It had 1-2 phone screens. The next step would've probably been an in person super day, but I didn't make it. I thought I interviewed well and was surprised I didn't get the offer. They said the reason was because I didn't have as much prior banking experience as the other applicants. It's a smaller place and they want interns who have prior knowledge.

It started with a super technical phone screen, then a modeling test, followed by another interview, and finally an invitation to their San Francisco office. Keep studying the IB guides, but if you get invited to the SuperDay, be ready to mingle and have drinks with the other analysts. I think I ultimately got dinged because I left the bar early to catch a 4 AM flight instead of staying the whole night.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Were you asked pretty much every single question that you would find on a technical guide?
  • Did you have to have a good explanation for why IB?
  • Did you have to have a good explanation for what you have done is relevant to it?
