Analyst
I applied online and got contacted by a recruiter within a week. They wanted me to come into the office to meet the hiring manager. When I got there, no one was at the front desk. I waited about 5 minutes and then called the recruiter, but they didn't pick up. Finally, another employee helped me and found out the recruiter wasn't in and no one knew. After about 25 minutes, I finally met the hiring manager. He seemed nice and entrepreneurial but a bit new and unsure about the analyst role's requirements. He talked about the company's growth potential and seemed really interested in my background. After the interview, I was told I'd hear back within a week. A few days later, I got an automated rejection email, which they later said was a mistake. I waited another week and emailed the recruiter for an update, but got no response. A week after that, I emailed again with the same result. I contacted the hiring manager, and about a week later, they said they were still deciding. A week after that, I followed up again, and the hiring manager said the same thing. Two months passed, and I never heard back from anyone. This was the most unprofessional recruiting experience I've ever had, and it makes sense why this company struggles to attract top talent.
- Why are you interested in Jive?
- Can you tell me about how you handle tasks that don't have a clear structure?
- Would you be comfortable taking on different roles and responsibilities as needed?

I applied online on a Friday and then got a call for an interview on Tuesday. Right away, they sent me an Excel spreadsheet test and then asked me to come back for a final interview the very next day. It was a pretty standard interview setup. When I walked in, the building was amazing and the environment felt really comfortable. I was taken to an interview room where they asked standard questions. I could tell my interviewers were really passionate and comfortable with Jive. The Excel test was pretty standard. The final interview had someone from the accounting office, and they asked some strange questions about internal communication lines and how to share information with colleagues, but it made sense.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- Could you tell me about your biggest pet peeve?
- How do you envision managing internal communication and information dissemination with your colleagues?

So first I had this phone call with a recruiter from the company. Then I went in for a face-to-face interview with the manager for the job. The receptionist was super nice and showed me where to wait. The manager was really cool and not intimidating at all, he made it pretty comfortable and listened well. He even gave me some direct feedback on my experience and what I said. A little while later, they called me back for another in-person interview. This time, another person from the team came, so there were two of them. They asked me more detailed questions about how I can handle different business needs and projects. It was a relaxed setting. A few days after that, I got an email with an offer, and I signed it electronically since that's how I needed to do it.
- In your own words, what does "adding value" to a team mean to you?

I met with the manager and supervisor for my first interview. They asked standard questions like "why Jive?" and "where do you see yourself in five years?". It felt pretty relaxed, and they were approachable. A week later, I had a second interview where they dug deeper with questions about my motivation for the department and what I could contribute. They also threw in some riddles, which was a new and interesting experience, but not in a bad way.
- Can you describe a time you had to handle an angry customer, and what was your approach?
- What are your reasons for wanting to work in this specific department?
- What unique skills or qualities would you bring to our team?
