It took them over a month to get back to me after I applied. There wasn't an HR interview. The CDO reached out directly to schedule a chat. The first two-thirds of the interview involved me discussing my past work and him sharing his experience. Then, he started asking really basic questions, which seemed like they were given to him by someone else. He'd state an acronym, ask for its definition and importance in databases. Even though I knew the answer, I told him I didn't know what the letters stood for and asked him to provide them, as an interview should be a two-way street. He couldn't even tell me what the letters stood for himself. Essentially, he was testing me on something he didn't fully understand. I ended the interview at that point and wished him luck. Later, I found out his credentials didn't include a computer science degree, though his bachelor's was from an Ivy League school. It seems he got the CDO position for his Ivy League background rather than data expertise.

I applied with two questions and no cover letter, which was straightforward. Then, there was a very quick phone screen. The hiring manager asked me to email if I was still interested, and we then scheduled an interview at a cafe. I also completed a 30-minute writing test with a couple of questions, which seemed easy. I'm unsure how I performed on that, but it led to the interview. I met with the same manager for 45 minutes. He asked many open-ended questions and about my background. He also encouraged me to ask a lot of questions. They didn't offer another interview round, but the experience was interesting enough that I mentioned it to friends.

I found the job on LinkedIn, it was listed as a "Venture-backed start-up coming to Atlanta." I was contacted about two weeks later by a customer success associate manager for a quick phone interview. It went well, and they wanted to schedule an in-person interview for later that week. We had to play email tag to find a date that worked. Since the manager was still in New York and the Atlanta location wasn't set up yet, we met at a restaurant for the in-person meeting. It went well, and they passed my info to their boss to schedule more calls with Jetty associates. I sent over some available days and times, but I never heard back from them about the position. I tried contacting the CSA manager multiple times, but got no response. I was pretty disappointed with how it was handled; it's unprofessional to leave a candidate hanging.

The company recruiter reached out to me about the position after reviewing my resume and thought I'd be a good fit. They scheduled a phone interview, but the recruiter was 30 minutes late without any heads-up. The next week, I followed up and heard back that the hiring manager had already narrowed down the candidate pool and decided not to move forward with me. I have a lot of experience for this role and am also a landlord/property manager myself. I provided great references, but I didn't even get a chance to speak with the hiring manager. It just doesn't make sense. My guess is it's because of my age, as the company website doesn't seem to show anyone over 40.
