Product Manager
Had an initial phone screen that went alright and they said I'd get a use case. After that, it went south. I got the use case which had a few hundred records of data and the prompt was to "analyze" how the data was relative to each of the three merchants. I spent a week on my analysis and sent it back. After a few days, I asked for an update and they said the analysis was "wrong" and they wouldn't be moving forward, no explanation given. This felt weird because on the phone screen they said they really cared about "transparency." When I asked for more info on how it was "wrong" and what they were looking for, they said they wanted someone to "clean" the data.
- Can you describe your current responsibilities?
- Please analyze the provided data in relation to each of the three merchants.
- Could you explain what specifically was incorrect about the analysis?
Product Manager
The hiring process was pretty standard. It started with a recruiter call, then a chat with the hiring manager. After that, I had an on-site interview that lasted about half a day and included meeting six people from the team. The very last step was a lunch interview. The recruiter was great at keeping me updated via email and phone about what was coming up next.
- Could you list the essential skills for a product manager and then rate yourself on each of those skills?
Product Manager
They had me do a project and a math test. During the onsite, they attempted to steer me towards a significantly lower-level position, and it seemed like they weren't clear on the role I was interviewing for. They also failed to respond to my inquiries. The company seems disorganized, with many employees struggling with basic aptitude tests.
- What are your thoughts on standard interview questions?
