First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jerry's Home Improvement Center.
Stocker
The interview was pretty professional and overall it went pretty well. They asked me about my work history and some questions about teamwork. It seemed like teamwork and safety are important to the company. The hiring manager was nice and honest, and seemed excited to talk to me.
- What would you do if a coworker wasn't a team player?
Management
It was a random, unorganized interview. They mentioned they would contact me after the holidays with next steps, but never gave any feedback or followed up. Two months later, it's clear it's a no, but they still weren't professional enough to follow up.
- Questions about your resume were asked randomly.
Front End Stocker
I picked up an application at the Customer Service desk, but now you can print it from the website. I filled it out and dropped it in a slot. I also took a follow-up form just in case. A few days later, I got a contact card in the mail saying they'd contact me if interested due to high applicant volume. I was a bit bummed, but the head of HR called the next day. She had me do some online surveys. Later, she called back and offered me an interview. After that, I got a call saying I got the Front End Stocker job. I went in, got my handbook, and had my picture taken by HR at the main office on Highway 99. Then I went to orientation, which was paid. I learned about the company's history and policies, and got POS training. My orientation group started working on the floor about a week later.
- What makes you want to be employed by our company?
Cashier
After submitting my online application, I got an email the next day. We talked on the phone and set up a phone interview for the following week, and they were really nice about my schedule. By the end of the phone interview, she liked my answers and set up a store tour for the week after. Since they thought I was a good fit, I then got set up for a two day training at the store.
- Can you lift 55 pounds from the floor to a cart?
