UI Designer
It was 3 rounds. HR, the hiring manager, and the team. Just normal questions, no design challenge. It was over phone and video chat. I thought I'd hear back in a week. Nothing. I followed up and was told I wasn't picked but they were thinking about me for a similar role and would let me know in a week. Two weeks later, I followed up again and was told they were still deciding. A month later, I saw the same job ad and reached out to the hiring manager. They sent me to another hiring manager who said they were still deciding and I'd hear back by the end of the week. That was 3 months ago. My takeaway is if you don't get an offer reasonably quickly, they don't want you. They won't reject you directly, they'll just ghost you or keep saying the team is still deciding.
- Walk me through how you approach design.
Account Manager
I applied online for a Project Manager role and an Account Manager role. They asked if I wanted to be considered for both and gave me the pay for both. The PM role paid considerably better but I said I would be considered for both. I did a video interview for the Project Manager role and had a phone interview for the Account Manager role. I really liked who I spoke with about the AM role but unfortunately the pay was really low ($45 with chance for up to $20 in bonuses--5k per quarter. No wiggle room or room for negotiation). The role also had a bit of travel and you had to pay for it up front and get reimbursed. I ended up getting another offer elsewhere and took it. The boss seemed like a very nice guy though.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- What are your career aspirations moving forward?
Social Media Manager
Everyone seemed nice (though the HR woman I dealt with was very unfriendly) and the average age seemed to be in the 30's. Hours are 9-6. Very nice office, which was downtown in the Pru when I interviewed - seems they spend a lot on overhead. It was annoying that you still need to fill out a paper form for HR like you fill out for a retail job, even for a professional job when you've already submitted a resume.
- What makes you want to work for this company?
Software Engineer
I applied online and they got back to me 3 weeks later to set up an on site interview. The on site interview was with the hiring manager and other senior software engineers. Two weeks later, I got a job offer. They don't make you wait if they want you on the team.
- What do you know about the company?
- What technical experience do you have?
- Can you tell me about yourself?
