First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jenni Kayne.
Store Manager
It was a pretty standard interview process. Unfortunately, the first person I interviewed with was laid off during the process. In my second interview, they couldn't tell me about my potential growth within the company or who I'd report to weekly. It was pretty disappointing, especially since this was my dream job!
- Are you comfortable hosting events?
Interior Designer
I was given a pretty big project to do, but then I never heard back from them. They told me they weren't hiring for the position anymore. The job was posted again after more than a month, and I had to contact the hiring manager myself to find out they were moving in a different direction.
- Can you name some interior designers you admire?
Sales Associate
At Jenni Kayne, the interview process is meant to be thoughtful and engaging, reflecting their focus on quality and creativity. You'll have a series of conversations that explore your background, skills, and enthusiasm for fashion and lifestyle. It starts with a phone or video call to chat about your experience and why you're interested in the role. Then, you'll have one or more longer interviews with important team members.
- Can you explain how your personal style and approach align with the Jenni Kayne brand's aesthetic?
Retention Marketing Manager
So this was the strangest interview I've ever been through. I never actually saw or heard from another person. They asked me to add someone on Microsoft Teams, and when I asked when we'd be meeting, they told me all questions would be through chat. The next day, without ever meeting, they said they could send an employment letter. Once I signed it, I'd be assigned to a work group. I asked if I could meet the team or hiring manager, but they said that was impossible until the offer was signed. This was weird since the job description said who the role reported to. It really felt like they were hiding something, maybe a toxic culture or a bait and switch. I told them I couldn't continue unless I could speak to my potential manager face-to-face.
- What do you know about our company?
- What's your take on retention marketing and how it fits into the larger marketing plan?
