Elections Specialist
The conversation was professional and thoughtful. The interviewer had a keen mind on the subject matter, and really sought to make the interview both thoughtful yet without excessive gravitas. They had a passion for the concept of elections, and though I didn't get the position, I felt that the whole experience was fair, and gave me more confidence in Jefferson County's voting experience.

Administrative Assistant
The entire application and interview process for this role is managed through Jeffco’s workday portal. There are no email or system notifications, so applicants must log in frequently to check their status. Moving between stages and not being selected after an interview were not communicated via notifications; status updates in the portal were the only indicators. The overall recruiting experience with Jeffco has been disappointing across multiple applications, characterized by a lack of effort and interest in the interviews. It felt like interviewers were just going through the motions to meet a quota. Promises of communication were not kept, and emails to Jeffco recruiters went unanswered despite their invitation to connect. Compared to competing organizations that offer more communicative and pleasant hiring experiences, I've decided to look elsewhere for career opportunities.
- Can you describe your experience with leading meetings and taking notes in a professional setting?
Detention Specialist
If you get a conditional offer for this place, they will contract their post offer testing through Brower Psychological. This organization will threaten you to provide all of your military psychological history, your Service Treatment Record (STR) in it's entirety, your VA treatment records, full VA disability rating if you have one, the decision letter, as well as your Compensation & Pension evaluation report. They will sing your veteran praises, ask you for documentation to beef up their veteran recruitment efforts, and tell you how awesome you are before they tell you to hit the road. Don't waste your time with Jeferson County.
- Were you asked about your personal biases?
Forensic Scientist
The interview process felt pretty standard, but surprisingly, there weren't any technical questions for a role that's usually highly technical, which in hindsight was a bit strange. After that, I had to go through a polygraph exam, which I passed, and then employee fingerprinting. Just three days later, I received a generic rejection email. Having worked in similar roles at the state level before, it's common to assume you've got the job once you reach this stage, as agencies often avoid wasting resources. I'm really disappointed with how this whole thing went down. I was in touch with several HR people throughout, corresponding with them, and then this abrupt rejection with no real explanation, just that the role was filled. I know how these processes typically work – interview, polygraph, background check, reference interviews – and that doesn't usually happen in just three days for other candidates. So, I suspect they had other plans from the start or the role was already taken when they scheduled my polygraph and fingerprinting. Maybe it's a good thing I dodged a bullet.
