First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jeffco Public Schools.
Paraprofessional
The interview process was pretty simple. In Jeffco, they give you the questions in advance, so you need to get there early. Make sure you have some questions ready to ask about the job's scope and responsibilities because a lot of the paraprofessional job postings aren't very clear about them.
- How would you handle prioritizing tasks when things get hectic?
Building Technician
The interview process had 7 types of questions. These questions were related to the program's needs, but not at all to the job description. They asked for advanced technical knowledge, even though the job description was entry-level.
- Tell me about your experience in the music industry and at various venues.
Teacher
The interview process is pretty standard. You'll have the principal and some teachers from the department interview you, and they'll ask everyone the same questions. They have to interview 5 candidates if possible, even if someone is already on a temporary contract for the permanent position, they still have to bring in outside people to meet the requirements.
- What makes you want to work at this particular school?
Classroom Teacher
The process for candidates starts with receiving the interview questions beforehand for a 20-minute review period. If candidates arrive early, they won't get the questions any sooner. Each school has its own set of questions. Usually, an interview committee composed of staff members from various positions within the school conducts the interviews. The interviews are typically scheduled for a specific duration, and a timekeeper will provide updates on the remaining time.
- Could you describe your approach to literacy block instruction?
- How do you cater to the diverse needs of your readers?
