First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at JBT Marel.
Engenheiro Mecânico Pleno
For this specific role, the main work involved providing services to one of JBT's units in the US, so there were national and international stages. First, the resume screening. Then, an interview with the national manager for the area, followed by an HR interview. In the HR interview, your declared language proficiency is tested, usually English and one other language requested in the job posting. If approved, I was directed to two interview sessions with 4 different managers from the hiring units in the US. I got a positive response in about 10 days and the written job offer, with benefits and salary.
- Could you detail your experience in this field?
- Are you open to international travel?
HR Intern
It was pretty normal to start, I had a phone interview, then met the director in person the next day. They said they'd make a decision the following week. They kept making excuses, then ghosted me. A month after the interviews, I got a canned "sorry you didn't get it." It was annoying to be strung along for so long when I wasn't being considered.
- What interests you about HR
Director of Engineering
So the interview started with a Teams screen with the recruiter, then I spoke with the General Manager/HR. After that, I had one on-site interview where I met with a bunch of managers. They had some follow-up calls/meetings to make sure we were a good fit for each other. It felt pretty standard for a Director of Engineering role.
- What is your approach to setting goals and a vision for your team, and how do you guide your team to achieve these objectives?
- How would you establish goals or a vision for your group? How would you provide direction to your team to execute initiatives to meet the goals and/or vision?
Software Engineer
The interview process had three interviews. The first was with the department manager and was more of a personality interview. The second was with the team leads and was a practical assessment of coding skill. The final interview was with HR.
- What is your preferred coding language, with C# being the preferred option?
- Can you perform a simple array indexing task?
- How would you handle SQL queries, specifically select statements?
