The interview with the supervisor went well. However, the week-long orientation was designed for production workers and was largely irrelevant for a maintenance technician. The orientation and training for maintenance roles were poorly developed and disorganized. I think maintenance should have its own orientation process because most of the videos were for production staff. Instead of hands-on training during orientation, maintenance hires had to go to the safety department and watch videos relevant to their job. There were several hours on multiple days where I had nothing to do, and the HR staff didn't seem to notice.

The interview process included a phone call where I was asked questions about how I found out about the company. It's really important to practice interviewing on your own and look up tips for success. When they asked about my weaknesses, I made sure to have backup answers ready that showed how I've overcome them. Similarly, when asked about overcoming challenges, I ensured my answers were sensible and related to the weakness mentioned.

I was offered an in-person interview and then was asked to come back later in the week for a second interview. After waiting for someone to schedule the second interview, I called several times to check on the status of the position. About a week later, I was informed that another candidate was chosen.
