Intern
Heard Jane Street has cool internships for female students so I decided to apply. Filled out the online application. Got a response for an online assessment. The assessment was super hard for me. The interview was even harder. Lots of technical questions.
- Given two players flipping a coin until someone wins, where Player A wins with HHT and Player B wins with HTT, what are the chances of Player B winning?
Intern
Had 2 phone interviews, then an onsite. All of them were technical except for the last one, which was behavioral. The questions covered a range from basic market making to Excel games and some card games that they made themselves.
- Can you tell me about some basic probability concepts?
- How do you calculate Expected Value (EV)?
- Are you familiar with basic probability concepts?
Quant Intern
The interview process was brief, with only two rounds, and focused entirely on problem-solving and brainteaser questions. There were very few, if any, behavioral questions. The interviewer was pleasant but immediately presented the brainteaser problems. They were quick to inform me about moving to the next round but took their time responding if it was a rejection.
- Given 3 buckets, each with a capacity of one, and a guarantee that each thrown ball will hit a bucket (bouncing out if full), calculate the expected gain with 2 balls, where each successful ball in the bucket scores +1 and each bounced-out ball scores -1.
