They asked me a lot about my construction experience and what I learned in school about different estimating processes. They also wanted to know about my future plans for school and when I'll finish my degree.

It included several calls, a couple of in-person interviews, and a two-part writing test. The whole thing took over 7 hours. It was a bit messy, but the interviewers were nice. No one followed up afterward.

The recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn for this role. The first interview involved basic questions, probably reviewing my profile, like if I was actively searching for a job and my previous role. The second interview was with the recruiter and the person I'd work with, and they asked some unexpected questions. It turned out they hadn't even posted the job description yet, suggesting they weren't sure what they needed and were looking for someone with more IT experience rather than an entry-level HRIS analyst. They said they'd follow up the next week, but it's been almost a month with no word. Honestly, I wasn't very interested in the job even if they offered it, but their repeated promises to get back to me and then silence were quite disappointing.

The interview process started out great. I was super excited about the opportunity at Jacobsen. Everyone seemed nice. At first the recruiter was responsive in responding to my emails. I went in for two different interviews, two different times. There was a week of waiting in between interviews. I waited another week. The recruiter let me know I was one of two final candidates and wanted me to take an intermediate level Excel test. I turned it in and no response. I emailed once a week and waited for two and a half weeks. Still no response. I knew someone who worked in their HR department and she let me know they had reposted the job and were looking for other candidates who had more in depth skill in Excel. That's fine if I don't have the Excel skills you are looking for but it would be nice to at least have a response. I saw on LinkedIn that the job had been reposted so I knew they were moving on. I felt like for being one of two final candidates I could at least get some kind of email stating whether or not I got the job. I know being a recruiter is busy and but it doesn't take too much time to be kind and send a simple email with feedback. It would make your business look better if you did. You are the brand ambassador for your company. Thank you for the learning experience and appreciate your time.
