I applied online and then got a call from HR about a week later for a phone interview. Two days after that, I had another phone interview with someone from the Actuarial Recruitment committee who has their FSA. I was then invited for an onsite interview a few weeks later. During the onsite, I met with all the AVPs/VPs and the SVP (Chief Actuary). Lunch was with three actuarial students, and we just chatted about the company, the department, and the student program. I finished the day with another chat with the HR recruiter who first called me. She gave me some info about benefits and programs to review in case of an offer. The next day, the recruiter called to give me an update on when to expect a decision, and a week later, she called to offer me the job, even though the official offer details weren't ready yet. She called that day just so I wouldn't worry.

I applied and about two weeks later, a recruiter left me a voice message. I called back quickly and left a message with my availability for a phone interview. They got back to me the next day to schedule. On the interview day, the recruiter called me to reschedule due to an emergency meeting. A few days later, we had the phone interview. During the call, the recruiter emailed me to say they were moving forward with other candidates. The communication from the recruiter was not prompt or effective. It was also concerning that I received a rejection email while still on the phone.

The whole thing was super short, only a minute, which I honestly didn't see coming but wasn't entirely shocked by either. While I get that visa sponsorship is a thing, they could have just said no right away instead of wasting my time.
