Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Ski Instructor
To get hired, you need to pay for a 3-4 day on-mountain interview. Most of the time is spent skiing with experienced instructors. They're cool and fun, making it feel less like an interview. Some people get hired, others don't. There are other jobs at the mountain too that give you a season pass. The coaching you get is worth the cost, even if you're not a great skier or snowboarder.
- Tell me about your teaching experience.
- Have you worked with kids before?
- How do you handle new situations?
Ski Instructor
To become a Ski Instructor, candidates typically enroll in the Instructor Training Course (ITC). However, if you already have previous instructing experience and PSIA certifications, you might be able to skip the ITC. Your ski ability, coachability, and professionalism will be assessed. As a bonus, you'll receive a 3-4 day discounted ski lesson from top instructors.
- Please deliver a 10-minute instructional lesson on a topic of your choice.
Race Crew Worker
It was pretty relaxed. I chatted with the manager for the Race Crew and we talked about what the job involves, my skiing skills, and the housing situation at the resort. It turned out to be a great group to work with.
- Can you describe your skiing abilities?
- How do you feel about skiing with heavy equipment?
- What is your perspective on the resort's housing options?
Ski Instructor
Hiring is pretty open, mostly looking for a good attitude and a pulse. If you're new to this, there's a group tryout you can join. It costs money, but they usually accept most people who complete it, and it’s a cool way to get to know the place.
- Tell me about your experience working with children.
