I walked into the store and spoke with the person at the register. I filled out an application on the spot. He asked why I chose J. Crew over other nearby stores. After a few questions, we finished up. He even commented on my attire, haha. About two days later, the hiring manager called for an interview scheduled for Friday of the same week, three days from then. We sat down outside and talked. He asked again why J. Crew, about a good/bad customer service experience I had, and what I like about J. Crew and what makes it stand out. On Monday, I received a call for another interview with the store director the following Friday. We sat down again and discussed the same questions and how I'd handle a disappointed customer. It seemed to go well, and we shared some laughs. They said they'd contact me between Monday and Wednesday. On Wednesday, they called offering me the job. It was very straightforward.

I had my first interview with the Assistant Director, which was pretty chill. I talked about my sales background since I originally applied for a Sales associate role. After going over my experience, we just chatted about ourselves and they said they'd follow up. A couple days later, I interviewed with the Director of the store. This one was way more formal. They asked me similar questions about my experience, but without the casual chat. They said they'd follow up again, and that was it.

The interview process was a bit unique. The head of store, who was also my former manager from a previous big store where I was her right-hand person on the management team, reached out to me. She informed me about a position that she believed I would be a perfect fit for. That was essentially the extent of the process.
