First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at J. Crew.
Assistant Manager
The interview process was easy, and they were very accommodating and communicative regarding my personal schedule and previous job timing, which I needed to make things work for myself as I was transitioning.

- Questions about time management
Associate Manager
This was the most disorganized interview process I've ever been through. I had a phone interview with a manager who was very unfocused, couldn't remember my name, struggled to complete her thoughts, and frequently misspoke. Additionally, she called me 15 minutes after our scheduled time. She indicated I'd hear back in a few days, but it took over two weeks for her to reach out with a confusing voicemail. When I called her back, she was disorganized again and realized she had contacted the wrong person and left the wrong message.

Merchandising Manager
I first chatted with HR about my background, career aspirations, and the company vibe. Then, on the same day, I talked with the director. That chat was more about my technical chops, how I tackle problems, and how I could help with the team's big-picture goals.
